Club Pinup presents The Pinup Era
The term
pinup was heard first during World War Two. Servicemen worldwide
would hang up pictures of Betty Grable and others in there lockers
overseas, to remind them of what they were missing at home. The
ladies like Grabel, Rita Hayworth, Hedy Lamarr, Veronica Lake, and
others inspired or distracted men long enough to bare through there task
at hand.
After the war the comical flirtatious style of photography stayed
popular throughout the 50's till around the early 60's. Photography
became huge among hobbyists and magazines throughout the world and the
girls you knew next door became household names or at least household
images. Through the 40's through early 60's the American public got a
good look at the play full and curvaceous form of the Pinup woman in a
way they have never seen before..
